Angel Olsen announced her new album Big Time will release on June 3 via Jagjaguwar. Along with the LP announcement, the American singer-songwriter and musician shared the project’s lead single “All The Good Times” with an accompanying music video.

The video was directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch and stars Olsen and her partner. Stuckwisch commented in a release, “Angel’s story is a gift. It allowed me to visually explore the universal themes of love, loss, and most importantly what holds us back from realizing our true selves.”

Big Time started as a project about the expansive power of love and was written during a time Olsen was coming out as queer and having her first experience of queer love and heartbreak. However, the bright overtones of the project are layered with a profound sense of loss. During the process of coming out and accepting herself, Olsen lost both of her parents in quick succession. Just three weeks after her mother’s funeral she was in the studio, recording what would become a deeply introspective and tender new album.

“All the Good Times,” has nods to JJ Cale, and starts the album on a bright note. “I can’t say that I’m sorry / when I don’t feel so wrong anymore,” she sings with a softer and more honest tone than ever before.

Big Time was recorded and mixed with co-producer Jonathan Wilson at Fivestar Studios in Topanga, Calif. Multi-instrumentalist Drew Erickson plays piano, organ, and handled string arrangements, and Olsen’s longtime bandmate, Emily Elhaj, handles bass throughout the project.

Later this summer, Olsen will embark on The Wild Hearts tour with Sharon Van Etten, Julien Baker, and Spencer.. Olsen also announced a fall European tour, on sale this Friday.
