The String Cheese Incident pulled out all the stops during their latest live appearance at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte, Colo. The band’s hometown concert consisted of two sets of music, the first segment being exclusively acoustic and referencing their own musical history by way of bust-outs, revived selections that proved to be reliable returns.

From the top of the night, they pulled out a fitting selection, “High on the Mountain Top,” played for the first time since June 28, 2024. The motif continued by way of Sam Bush’s “Stingray,” which was revived after being played last on Jan. 22, 2023. They pressed through a familiar “Lost” before digging deep and delivering “Latinissmo.” The aforementioned song had not been awakened since 2019.

The acoustic set petered out with “Pirates,” “Lonesome Road Blues,” “Sirens,” and “San Jose.” During the latter half of the night, SCI picked up the new number “You’re a Star” before kicking off “Rivertrance,” which flowed into “Get Tight,” “Rollover,” “Carnival” and frame-ending “Black Clouds.”

Harkening back to their set one pattern during their encore, String Cheese Incident resuscitated “Good Times Around the Bend,” another piece of their repertoire that had been shelved since 2023. For the final song of the performance, they covered the Billy & Liza tune, “Smile.”

Following last night’s home-state concert, SCI will take their instruments to the Pepsi Amphitheater in Flagstaff, Ariz., for two nights, June 5-6. Tickets remain on sale.
