On Saturday,  Camden, NJ’s Cooper River Stadium hosted Tonewood 10: Island Jam. The day-long event featured a mix of acts from the jamband scene and beyond, including Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, LaMP, Grace Bowers, Marc Brownstein’s DJ Brownie set and Aron Magner’s Deadtronica project. Brownstein, Magner and singer Kanika Moore served as official artists-at-large and popped up throughout the day. Of note, during Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s headlining show, Magner–who also joined Crickets and Cicadas during their spot–sat in on “Overtime” while Moore made a guest appearance on a cover of CeeLo Green’s “Fuck You.” 

The early-June show kicked off what promises to be a busy stretch for both the Disco Biscuits and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. The Disco Biscuits, who are slated to return to Wesport, CT’s Levitt Pavilion on June 12-13, are offering fans a chance to work on the weekend’s setlists with Brownstein. A note from the band reads, “Hey everyone! We’re really enjoying involving y’all in our live show creative process this year, so we’ve put together another opportunity for this weekend in CT. Purchase a ticket to our return to the beautiful Levitt Pavilion on June 12 & 13th in Westport, and you’ll automatically be entered for a chance to design a setlist for the shows with Brownie! Tickets must be purchased by 11:59pm ET (Tuesday, June 9). See you there.” 

Meanwhile, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong have confirmed an extensive fall tour. The Baltimore, MD-bred group will kick things off in Seattle on October 23, before making their way down the West Coast and through the Midwest, bringing the run to a close on November 7 in Cleveland, OH. They will then take a brief pause, before regrouping for three shows at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl from November 19-21.  San Diego, CA’s The Observatory North Park will play host to their October 31 Halloween show.
