Hangout on the Hudson, scheduled for Aug. 1 at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns. Death Cab for Cutie and Real Estate were scheduled to perform at the event. This year’s Hangout on the Hudson was set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Radio Woodstock.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of Hangout on the Hudson… due to the ramification of the Covid-19 outbreak,” wrote Gary Chetkof, president of Radio Woodstock and Chet-5 Productions and producer of the festival in a statement. “The safety of our artists, fans, and staff are of paramount importance.”

“We believe in the power of music — in its ability to unite us, to help us through tough times, and to reconnect us to each other,” Chetkof continued. “We look forward to being with you again, as a community, when the time is right.”

“For now, stay home, stay safe, and stay positive,” Chetkof concluded. “This too shall pass. We’ll see you in 2021. In the meantime, please keep listening to Radio Woodstock.”

The festival also announced that tickets will automatically be refunded through Eventbrite within 14 days.
