In August 2025, fiddler Jake Renick Simpson made his initial appearance with Dave Matthews Band. Simpson joined the group for portions of all three nights during DMB’s Gorge run. Earlier that month he had connected with the band’s namesake when Dave Matthews performed two solo dates at the Wildlands Music Festival in Big Sky, MT where Simpson was on hand as a member of Lukas Nelson’s group.

During the Dave Matthews Band 2026 summer tour, Simpson guested on three May dates. He appeared with the collective on May 11 in Austin, then on May 29 and 30 during DMB’s two-night stand at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL.

Last evening at the Morton Amphitheater in Riverside, MO, the fiddle player returned to the stage with the group. Simpson emerged at the close of the set for the final five songs: “#41,” “Warehouse,” “Big Eyed Fish,” “Bartender” and “Tripping Billies.” Then after Matthews performed a solo version of “All That I Wanted” for the initial encore selection, Simpson returned with the full band for a closing run through “Trippie Billies.”
