This past Friday, the Dead Sessions took place once again in Burlington, VT after a month off to allow drummer Trevor Ainsworth (Liquid Dead) time for recovery from knee surgery. In addition to Ainsworth, the core group also consisted of Turkey Bouillon Mafia’s Ben Yurco and Adam King, along with Dave Hyman (Blues for Breakfast) and Trey Anastasio Band member Christina Durfee. The night also featured steady contributions from guitarist Dave Diamond (Grippo Funk Band) and drummer Steve Hadeka (Seth Yacovone Band). As with past Sessions, a number of additional guests participated as well, with Dave Grippo lending saxophone to ‘Shakedown Street,’ Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro on drums during ‘Tennessee Jed’ and Brian Wade (Blues for Breakfast) adding guitar to ‘Playing In the Band’ and ‘The Wheel.’ The evening’s highlights included a version of ‘Let It Grow’ dedicated to the late Martin Fierro. The Dead Sessions will next take place on April 25.
