Years ago, Burning Spear did a song called “Jammin on Jam Cruise.” It was a true compliment. So we decided for our 10th cruise to put a few amazing musicians together to write a Jam Cruise theme song. And it turned out GREAT. Thanks to George, Anders, Stanton, and Robert Walter for creating something so cool! Watch it here

It such a beautiful thing that I get to become true friends with the musicians on Jam Cruise. Not just “see you once a year,” friends…real friends. Talk on the phone, share personal moments, meet up throughout the year, REAL friends. George is simply one of my closest of those. This is George Mother Fucking Porter, Jr. I’m talking about. LUCKY ME!!!!

One of the GREATEST live bands out there right now, Orgone…I am MADLY in love, head over heels, crazy about them. If you aren’t in the know, get in immediately! And they absolutely CRUSHED Jam Cruise.

Matt Butler is one of the nicest, most down to earth guys I know. And he’s one of the most unique musicians out there. No one does what he does. Everyone Orchestra is a fabulous idea that he brings to life. I beg you to have a convo with him and make him laugh. You will remember it for the rest of your life.

Man oh man…what is more exciting? How hot he is or how incredible of a musician he is. Troy Andrews is taking the music scene by storm one year at a time. His sets were such a source of pure energy. He’s a true star and we were very lucky to have gotten him back on Jam Cruise.

Shapie came on Jam Cruise and loved it!!!!! He totally owed us after 10 cruises. We grew up together and have followed each other’s careers for a long time. It was a true pleasure to have him see all the hard work we’ve put into our event especially since he is the mastermind of doing cool things.

The best quote of the cruise was when Mike Greenhaus said “there’s a lot of Jamband dorkery in this photo.” Waful, Shapiro, Greenhaus, Lukins, Bernstein…serious group of music lovers focused on the beauty of the jamband scene and BOY do we love it!

Aptly named, “the Spot,” Nathan Moore started his own “jam room” outside on the starboard side of Deck 7. Started around midnight and went till the sun was shining. He sucked Brad Barr into the madness and about 50 other people each night. It’s a true Jam Cruise creation.

I love the artist photo. We definitely ask all the bands to do a bunch of things for us while on board so having them all gather is yet another thing on their plate. But what ends up happening is magic…they all get to hang out and watching them interact with each other makes it so worth the effort we need to put into wrangling them. Here’s the end result. An awesome photo (courtesy of Michael Weintrob)

Anders Osborne and I have been friends since I was in college. I saw him countless times after that, loving every moment of his music. He definitely went through a lot of ups and downs but no matter what, I never gave up on him. He was too special of a musician, too talented to ever turn my back on. Three years ago, he gave up his demons and committed to a healthier life…committed to music. His playing has taken a new turn, a spiritual level that is infusing. The moment he starts playing or singing, everyone can feel it. His lyrics, his vocals, his guitar solos…are something not of this earth. They are fueled by a soul that is free and open. I am so proud to call him one of my closest friends, we are tighter than ever and everyone should be on the look out for Anders Osborne because he’s here to stay and continue making his mark on our scene.

I love when I walk into the theater and see cute things like this on the wall. First of all, you saw my Zebra Night photos earlier in the piece, so it’s fun they used zebra tape. Second….truly, really, we are SOOOO lucky to have Jam Cruise in our lives. Yes it’s my JOB and my LIFE but it’s not just me who feels like this, hence the sign on the wall. Jam Cruise has changed the lives of thousands of music lovers. It’s an experience like no other. Ask anyone who has been on board!!!!! Happy Jam Cruise 10!!!
