Previously, The Capitol Theatre shared that its time-honored tradition of marking Phil Lesh’s birthday with an annual concert series centered around mid-March dates will continue following the Grateful Dead bassist’s October 2024 passing through the arrival of Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh, slated for two nights, March 14 and 15. A third night, March 16, will feature a new lineup of past collaborators.

Night three will stay consistent with host band Grahame Lesh & Friends remaining at the helm. The newly added night of music will feature a fresh crop of featured guests, including Phil’s mid-2000s collaborators: Jackie Greene, Larry Campbell, Steve Molitz, John Molo and Teresa Williams–a near identical ensemble that performed together during Phil & Friend’s  Nov. 18, 2008 concert at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre, and other mid-aughts era gigs, like June 21, 2008 show at Bank of America Pavilion in Boston.

The Unbroken Chain tribute was initially presented as a two-night occasion announced in mid-January. The initial slate of dates, March 14 and 15, will remain consistent with Grahame Lesh & Friends’ holding to the program’s host position, with support from Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda–who previously took part in Phil Lesh & Friends 2022 run at The Cap–and longtime members of the Friends’ lineup Jason Crosby, John Molo and Eric Krasno.

Also included is Jennifer Hartswick, who participated in Phil’s final 2024 Capitol Theatre run. Lauded bassist Oteil Burbridge has also signed on for nights one and two and will assist in the program’s sonic tributes to one of the very best and most creative minds in music. Burbridge and Crosby opened up to Relix about their experiences performing with Lesh; the interviews appeared in Relix’s 2024 Collectors Edition, featuring Phil on the cover.

More special guests will be announced before the arrival of the tribute shows.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. local time.
