The Infamous Stringdusters shared a new live video today via Relix that captures the band’s recent performance of Allman Brothers Band’s classic instrumental “Jessica” at a Chicago show in March, along with a statement on the late Gregg Allman, who passed away over the weekend.

“The world lost a musical titan this past weekend, and now our whole extended musical community is both mourning the loss and celebrating the vast impact of Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band,” the Stringdusters’ accompanying statement reads. “We’ve been playing this version of ‘Jessica’ for a few months, and almost released this video just days before the news hit, ultimately deciding to move forward with it in hopes of paying tribute to a band who’s influence can’t be overstated. The Allmans were true originals, crafting a sound that resonated with endless fans and has never really been replicated. ‘Jessica’ was one of their signature songs—a rare instrumental that captured their rumbling, relentless power and uplifting sense of melody, all in this unique musical form that took you on such a journey from start to finish. The reaction from fans is as surprised and joyous as I’ve seen for just about anything we play, and our hope is to carry on the Allmans’ legacy. Our hearts go out to the whole Allman Brothers family, and we can’t thank them enough for all the amazing music.”
