Saxophonist and jazz fusionist Kamasi Washington has expanded his creative output to scoring the new Netflix documentary Becoming, profiling former First Lady Michelle Obama.

According to a press release, “The score features new original music from Washington—whom [director Nadia Hallgren] asked to join the project very early in its development—composed for the film as well as selections from his catalog.”

Clocking in at 30 minutes flat, the score has already been nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media at the upcoming, 2021 Grammy Awards.
