The Grammys have announced the nominees for the 2021 award ceremony. Billy Strings, Marcus King, Grace Potter, Danny Barnes, Brittany Howard, Black Pumas, Tame Impala, North Mississippi Allstars, Antibalas, Bonny Light Horseman and many more were nominated for awards. The ceremony will air on Jan. 31, 2021 on CBS and will be hosted by Trevor Noah.

Billy Strings’ Home and Danny Barnes’ Man on Fire were nominated for Best Bluegrass Album. Grace Potter received two nominations: Daylight was nominated for Best Rock Album while the title track was nominated for Best Rock Performance. Big Thief’s Adrienne Lenker received a songwriting nomination for Best Rock Song for “Not,” while the band received a nomination for the song in the Best Rock Performance category.

John Prine received two posthumous nominations for his song “I Remember Everything.” It was nominated for Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots song.

Brittany Howard got several nominations, including in Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album and more. Black Pumas’ “Colors” was nominated for Record of the Year, while their self-titled album was nominated for Album of the Year. Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush received a Best Alternative Music Album and Kevin Parker was nominated for Best Rock Song for “Lost In Yesterday.”

Bonny Light Horseman received nominations for Best Folk Album for their self-titled album, as well as Best American Roots Performance for “Deep In Love.”

North Mississippi Allstars, G. Love, Bettye LaVette, Fantastic Negrito and Fantastic Negrito are up for Best Contemporary Blues Album.

Marcus King was nominated for Best Americana Album for his solo record El Dorado, in  a category along with Hiss Golden Messenger, Sarah Jarosz, Lucinda Williams and Courtney Marie Andrews.

Best Global Music Album nominees include Antibalas, Anoushka Shankar and Tinariwen.

Robert Cray’s That’s What I Heard was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album (Steve Jordan produced both this record and Bettye LaVette’s Blackbirds which is up for Best Contemporary Blues Album, as previously noted).

Finally, The Grateful Dead box set Giants Stadium 1987, 1989, 1991 is up for Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package
