After announcing a surprise Superbowl Sunday show with members of Dawes, Phil Lesh revealed that he will begin his 80th birthday year with a batch of tributes to Grateful Dead shows that were performed on his birthday, March 15.
Those shows include 3/15/69, 3/15/73 and 3/15/90.
Early Dead shows in 1967 and 1968 were also performed on March 15, however setlists for those shows are unknown.
Phil Lesh’s Dead birthday shows are scheduled for Feb. 10 and 11 (with Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh and John Molo) as well as Feb. 17 (with Stu Allen, Scott Law and John Molo).
Additional birthday-themed shows will be announced in the near future.

February 1, 2020 at 10:52 am80 years is impressive for sure. That being said, am I the only one who thinks celebrating ‘your’ birthday for extended periods of time is just, well, absurd? it’s almost my birthday, it’s my birthday, it’s still my birthday….yay.

February 2, 2020 at 10:17 amSays the kid who has gone around the sun a quarter as many times. Who doesn’t like a good long party? Show some respect for your elders! 80 is a pretty big deal, considering how many musicians died before 60 (a bunch never saw 30!). How many 80 year old people do you see jamin out on bass? The guy is a LEGEND!!! Let the party begin!!!

February 1, 2020 at 10:50 amPlus the other 2 mentioned dates without setlists. Perhaps math is not Phil’s strong suit? I did see Phil with Furthur 3-15-2011 for his 71st and that was easily the best one…

February 1, 2020 at 9:57 amThis is confusing. The article mentions 3 shows played on March 15, but the Instagram says there are only 2. Can Phil’s people please get this straight.
