Wilco have confirmed a pair of special hometown holiday shows. On December 4 and 5, the Windy City-based band will return to the Chicago Theatre for their semi-annual Wilco’s Winterlude event.

The ensemble has played around with the Winterlude concept over time. In 2011, they closed the year by performing at five different Chicago venues: Lincoln Hall, the Metro, Vic Theatre, Riviera Theatre and the Civic Opera House. In 2014, the played six nights at the Riviera Theatre and a show at Milwaukee, WI’s Riverside Theater as part of their 20th anniversary tour, and in 2017, they capped off their touring cycle with a multi-night run at St. Paul, MN’s Palace Theatre a bit earlier in November.

Shortly before the pandemic, Wilco brought the Winterlude to the Chicago Theatre from December 15–19, 2019, and in 2024, they hosted a series of residencies known as The Shows FKA Winterlude to Austin, TX, Tulsa, OK, and St. Paul in December. Wilco began officially calling the holiday runs Winterlude in 2014.
