G. Love and Special Sauces sound owes just as much to the blues as it does to hip-hop, so it makes sense that the groups leader, Garrett Dutton III, jumped at a recent opportunity to produce the latest recording by blues-legend John Hammond, Push Comes To Shove. Last night, fans scored a chance to see what Hammond sounds like with the Dutton’s group when then guitarist took the stage with G. Love and Special Sauce for a version of the Push Comes To Shove track Tore Down at New Yorks Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. The gig was part of the Summer Haze Tour which also features Slightly Stoopid and Ozomatli, the latter of whom ended their performance by parading into the audience. The outing will continue at Myrtle Beach, SCs House of Blues tomorrow.
