On May 16, The Rolling Stones announced that Jon Batiste will open for night one of its program at East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium on May 23. Batiste’s addition to the ticket is one of many exciting highlights of the Hackney Diamonds Tour; the band’s run thus far has boasted thrilling debuts and bust-outs—including a recent performance of “Wild Horses”—keeping fans on their toes while honoring an unmatched catalog of hits. This announcement also follows the headline performances of both acts at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
While Batiste is set to kick off the Stones’ back-to-back evenings at MetLife with his singular R&B fusion sound, pop band Lawrence will issue a different energy the following evening, May 24. Batiste joins previously announced tour openers Widespread Panic, Gary Clark Jr., The Linda Lindas, The Beaches, Carin León / Electric Mud, The Pretty Reckless, Joe Bonamassa, The Red Clay Strays, Tyler Childers, KALEO, Bettye LaVette, Lainey Wilson, The War and Treaty and Ghost Hounds, the latter of which are slated to open at three shows.
Following his evening with The Rolling Stones, Oscar-winner Batiste will hit the road again for a series of shows, beginning on June 4 at Vancouver, British Columbia’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Throughout this three-month endeavor, Batiste is set to stop at notable venues like The Salt Shed in Chicago on June 13 and Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sept. 6 and 7. Batiste’s festival appearances this summer include Manchester, Tenn.’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 15 and Hampton, Va.’s Hampton Jazz Festival, slated for June 30.
