MARTIN COURTNEY (REAL ESTATE)

What will you remember most about 2011?

Probably the time spent in the studio making our album. That and the whole process of getting it mastered, getting the artwork together, and generally working towards its release. A very rewarding experience.

What album or albums received the most play?

Panda Bear – Tomboy, Julian Lynch – Terra, Cass McCombs – Catacombs, Big Troubles -_ Romantic Comedy_, Woods – Sun and Shade.

What was your favorite show or tour in 2011?

There were a couple great ones, but the show we played in Prospect Park opening for the Feelies stands out to me as a highlight.

What emerging band should readers watch out for in 2012?

I don’t really know too much about “emerging” music… Anthony Atlas, whose band Nodzzz broke up this year, is working on a new project called Piano Movers. He played me some new stuff and it sounds really great, so maybe look out for that, whenever it ends up getting released.

What’s your New Year’s resolution for 2012?

No more disgusting food on tour. And just because we don’t have it in the northeast (In N Out, Steak & Shake, Waffle House, Jack in the Box, etc.) doesn’t make it “good”. Like most resolutions, I see this lasting about a day once we actually get on the road.
