Mountain Grass Unit has just released another song from their forthcoming album. Vance Powell (Phish, Chris Stapleton, Jack White) produced Appalachian Smoke, which is the debut studio recording from Drury Anderson (mandolinist, vocals), guitarist Luke Black (guitar), Sam Wilson (upright bass) and Josiah Nelson (fiddle). In anticipation of the Appalachian Smoke the group previously shared a four-track Mountain Grass Unit EP with an accompanying “Window for a Friend” video.
The newly released selection from Appalachian Smoke is a love song titled “Wait for Me.” Karl Smakula contributes pedal steel to the tune, which supports its theme of love and patience. “Wait for Me” can be heard below via YouTube and through various other services.
Smakula is one a few notable musicians to join Mountain Grass Unit on the album. Greensky Bluegrass multi-instrumentalist Anders Beck also appears, as does renowned fiddler Michael Cleveland. Dualtone Records will issue Appalachian Smoke on August 28.
In the interim, Mountain Grass Unit is currently on the road, with a performance tonight in Enterprise, OR ahead of an appearance at the High Sierra Music Festival. Tour dates are listed below the song.
