Warren Haynes has joined the The New York Guitar Festival’s two-week ‘Reverend Gary Davis: In Search of the Harlem Street Singer.’
The May 4-15 event will honor the late blues and gospel artist Rev. Gary Davis, who taught such students as Bob Weir and influenced many artists. The Rolling Stones, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and many more have covered his songs.
During the stretch of online performances, a variety of artists will pay tribute to Davis each day at 4 p.m. ET.
Haynes will perform on May 14. Roseanne Cash, Jorma Kaukonen, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Bill Frisell and many more will also offer performances.
In addition, “John Schaffer at WNYC’s “New Sounds” will debut audio recordings of the full collection on May 4. Tune in at 11pm EDT on May 4th – on the radio dial at 93.9 FM or at www.newsounds.org.” (Quote via press release.)
