Rocker and activist Neil Young has taken a stand and promised to remove his music from Amazon.
The 79-year-old Canadian artist shared his thoughts on the matter via his very own virtual news page, Times-Contrarian, where he committed to cutting ties with Jeff Bezos’ Amazon and its subsidiary, Whole Foods, urging readers to “Buy local, buy direct.”
In the post, Young claims, “Bezos supports the government,” and inserts a follow-up below the Amazon logo that reads, “IT DOES NOT SUPPORT YOU OR ME.” In full, Young sends the message:

Young previously raised concerns about politics and streaming services, calling for the removal of his entire collection from Spotify in 2022, following the spread of false information on The Joe Rogan Experience about the COVID-19 vaccine.
However, in 2024, his catalog returned to Spotify, while acknowledging that other platforms were running podcasts that shared similar positions and assertions.
With renewed anger over corporate America and the Trump administration’s political agenda, Young has taken his protest one step further, promising that his music will no longer be available on Amazon Music.
His frustration also extends to Meta and its platforms, Facebook and Instagram. Having recently left the apps.
It is unknown if Young will also remove the physical products like records and CDs from Amazon. This story is still developing.
