Stephen Malkmus has confirmed a series of solo shows throughout Carlifornia. The Pavement frontman will hit the road in September, making stops at Ventura, CA’s Ventura Music Hall (9/1), Big Sur, CA’s Henry Miller Memorial Library (9/2), Sonoma, CA’s Gundlach Bundschu Winery (9/4) and Sacramento, CA’s Crest Theatre (9/5), before bringing things to a close at Santa Cruz, CA’s Rio Theatre (9/6).

This past February, the guitarist made a solo appearance at Chicago’s The Hideout as part of The Interview Show, a weekly show that is aired on PBS, and turned in a set at San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival. However, he has mostly been focused on Pavement during the first part of 2026. The indie-rock pioneers wrapped up their most rest run of reunion dates at Nashville’s the Ryman on July 28. Capping off an outing that included several notable bust outs and a fun riff of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” during the tour-closing performance they still had some surprises up their sleeves and offered “Serpentine Pad,” from 1995’s Wowee Zowee, for the first time this year. His recent solo show shave included Pavement songs, material from his Jicks project and tracks he released under his own name throughout his career.
