New Orleans’ The Revivalists made their Madison Square Garden debut on Sunday night, supporting Mobile, AL country-rock/Southern rock act the Red Clay Strays. For their first show at the famed New York arena, The Revivalists mixed material from throughout their career, drawing from five of their six LPs, including two tracks from Get It Honest, which was released on July 24. They also snuck in a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “American Girl,” which they debuted last year and have performed regularly throughout 2026.

Sunday’s show was Red Clay Strays’ first MSG play as well and the rising group documented the event for an upcoming live record and accompanying film. A few songs into their set, they also brought out fellow country star, the Sunnyside, WA-bred Zach Top, who had a day off in the area, for “Don’t Wanna Know,” a cut off their new album Grateful.

During their encore, and at their producer’s request, Red Clay Strays decided to do a second stab at their opening number, the Grateful kick-off track “Demons in Your Choir,” and “Don’t Wanna Know,” bringing Zach Top back to the stage for a second appearance. The musician then stuck around to assist Red Clay Strays on Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It Through the Night,” a song the group has covered one previous known time at Fort Worth, TX’s Billy Bob’s in 2024.

At the end of the night, The Revivalists frontman David Shaw also emerged to help Red Clay Strays close things out with “No One Else Like Me,” from their breakthrough LP, 2024’s Made by These Moments.

In a post after the show, The Revivalists said, “We’ll never be the same. It’s hard to put into words, but something shifted last night. Could you feel that?  Honestly, the whole day felt surreal. You bust your ass your whole life for nights like that, and sometimes the energy gets the best of you, call it pressure, expectations, anxiety, sometimes all three. Thankfully, none of that hit us. We played like a unit. All the long drives and sleepless nights leave a mark, that’s for sure. But they also become an anchor, something to look back on with a little smirk and say, “damn, we’ve come a long way.” I say all that to say this… It felt good to play the Garden. Let’s do it again, shall we?”

The Revivalists will perform at Westport, CT’s Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts this evening while Red Clay Strays will appear at Des Moines, Iowa’s Iowa State Fair this Saturday, August 15.
