Dopapod guitarist Rob Compa and Goose drummer Cotter Ellis have confirmed a residency at Burlington, VT’s Radio Bean. Billed as Compa Cotter & Friends, each concert will feature the Vermont mainstays and a different special guest playing “funky, improv jams all night.” This evening, the run of shows will kick off with bassist Josh Weinstein, known for his work with Kat Wright, as the night’s special guest.

Looking ahead, the Compa Cotter & Friends stand will continue on January 15, February 11 and February 19. Dopapod’s Chuck Jones will play bass at each show. Ellis recently closed his year on the road with Cotter’s Cotter’s Jingle Jamboree at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on December 27. A few special guests sat in during the night, including keyboardist Kiran Edwards, vocalists Jessica Leone, Tema Siegel and Nico Suave, guitarist Lara Cwass, and bassist Evan Barker.

Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein, who opened the night as a featured contributor to Wolf Mask, also emerged for covers of “Ain’t No Bread in the Breadbox” and “Golden Age.” Eggy’s Mike Goodman, and Dogs in a Pile’s Brian Murray, and Jeremy Kaplan rounded out the night’s house band.
