Grateful Dead and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery have extended their partnership with the launch of a new collaborative beer, dubbed Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale, the brainchild of Dogfish founder, Sam Calagione and archivist/legacy manager for the Grateful Dead, David Lemieux and arrives in tandem with the brewery’s 30th anniversary and band’s 60th.
At 5.3% ABV, Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale represents a light-bodied, easy-drinking-beer, with a fruity side and notes of pineapple, mango, and passion fruit. Developed by deadheads for deadheads, the beverage’s facade co-opts the band’s iconic Steal Your Face logo, making it a collectible in and of itself, destined for tops of refrigerators and places of display.
The collaborators forged the offering after a decade of crossing paths: 2013’s American Beauty in 750ml bottles and subsequent rereleases in 2014 and 2015 featuring new artwork denoting the Grateful Dead motif. They followed by offering American Beauty in 12 oz bottles in 2018, and 2019’s addition, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA.
To mark their latest launch, the beer and band have shared a list of products to mark their partnership, including an LED sign with featured branding, the Dead’s 13-point lightning bolt onesies, a tapestry, a t-shirt, tote bag, commemorative pint glass, coaster, flat brim hat and skull and roses-decorated koozie. For New Yorkers/those interested are invited to come out to the Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, to mark the launch and celebrate with the Grateful Dead cover band, Bushwick’s Dead. Tickets.
