On Friday, Taylor Swift celebrated the release of The National’s new LP, First Two Pages of Frankenstein by debuting her 2020 collaboration with the band at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. During the “surprise songs” segment of her Eras Tour, Swift performed “Coney Island” for the first time. The tune originally appeared on her 2020 album, evermore, which was co-produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner; “Coney Island” is the LP’s lone track to feature the entire National. Before playing the song on piano, Swift discussed The National’s influence on her music and gave a shoutout to Dessner. In addition, Swift also debuted “The Other Side of the Door,” from her new version of her second LP Fearless on Friday.
First Two Pages of Frankenstein, The National’s first record since 2019, was release Friday. Swift appears on “The Alcott,” which she co-wrote. The Eras Tour will return to Mercedes-Benz Stadium this evening.
