Today, the Grateful Dead shared a new look into their upcoming In And Out Of The Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83 box set with a live cut of “Althea” taken from their show at the famed New York arena on March 9, 1981. The box set will be available on Sept. 23.

“Althea” is the second song the Grateful Dead shared during their two-night run at Madison Square Garden in the early spring of ’81, following “Like A Stranger,” which they released when they announced the box set. It’s notable that “Althea” was debuted 53 years ago to the day on Aug. 4, 1979.

The complete box set includes six Grateful Dead concerts performed at the famed venue between ’81 and ’83. The set, which includes 17 CDs, will be limited to 12,500 copies and include liner notes by music journalist David Fricke and artwork by Dave Van Patten. A 3 CD set containing the March 9, 1981 show will also be available via digital download.
