The String Cheese Incident performed at The Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, Ill., last night as a part of their three-night New Year’s Run. The Colorado band played three sets flush with debuts, originals and covers to ring in 2022.

The String Cheese Incident kicked off the night with “Search,” “Born on the Wrong Planet,” Could You Be Loved,” and “Sweet Spot.” They then jammed from “Texas” into “Blackberry Blossom” back into “Texas” to close the first set.

Set two opened with a three-track jam of “Shantytown” > “Whole” > “Black Clouds.” The ensemble then debuted their new original song, “Short Shack Willie.” They then moved through fan favorites “Way That it Goes” and “Tinderbox.” String Cheese closed their second set with a jam of “Joyful Sound” into “Big Reveal.”

The third set opened with their ascending single “Vertigo,” lush with lyricism before breaking into another multi-song jam. They worked from “Way Back Home” into a cover of Umphrey’s McGee’s “Glory” back into “Way Back Home” and closed with “Dudley’s Kitchen.” For the ball drop, they laid down “Rollover” > “Happy New Year” > “Rollover.” For their first songs of 2022 and closing jam of their third set, String Cheese played “Nothing But Flowers” into “Rivertrance.”

The band came back on stage for an encore, where they dished out “Good Times Around the Bend” to close. The String Cheese Incident will return to The Auditorium Theatre to perform again tonight.
