Previously, vocal juggernaut, Maggie Rose, announced the August 14, 2026, release of her new forthcoming studio record, Half Moon, by way of initial single “Red Shoes.” Now, the musician has followed up with another stirring preview, “Gentle Man.” The new number projects Roses’s undeniable vocal might, coupled with a deep sense of feeling, to evoke a signature ballad that is true to the artist’s personal sound.
“Gentle Man,” written by Rose and producer Lawrence Rothman. The overtly intimate and honest presentation, “Anchored by warm instrumentation and cinematic production, the song explores masculinity through a compassionate lens — celebrating emotional openness, tenderness, and the courage it takes to love gently in a hardened world.”
Commenting on the new single, Roses says, “‘Gentle Man’ came out of my first time meeting and writing with Lawrence Rothman. I walked away from that day knowing that both that song and person were going to change my life for the better. We got right to the good stuff; gender identity, the roughness of the world, and the courage it takes to keep exploring who you are. I love that it is an offering for listeners who are still figuring out who they are and also for those who are trying to challenge and break out of cycles they have found themselves in.”
She continues, “When I found out that my son Graham was on the way, the song became non-negotiable for the album as a dedication to him. In the live setting we describe this moment as the ‘Eye of the Storm,’ because it’s a meditative moment that we build up to with an arrangement that is made for that arc — a quiet, acoustic slow burn that breaks open at the bridge into a huge, full-band moment. I love that the patience of the song plays into the idea of being gentle with one’s self as we are on the path to self-discovery.”
“Gentle Man” serves as the second single to arrive from Half Moon. Read about the previous single release, groove-dominated “Red Shoes.”
