The Americana Music Association has unveiled the nominees for its 25th annual Americana Honors & Awards ceremony. In a celebration of the many diverse styles branching from American folk music, the now 27-year-old trade organization selected a cast of exceptional talents perpetuating the tradition with innovative approaches. Five candidates are named for each of the five awards, with Brandi Carlile, I’m With Her, S.G. Goodman, Margo Price, Mon Rovîa and Ken Pomeroy leading the pack with two nominations.
The Artist of the Year category is a packed race between Carlile, Price, Molly Tuttle, Jesse Welles and Charley Crockett, the latter being the only of the five returning to the category after a nod in 2025. For Duo or Group of the Year, the contenders are the two-time Americans Award winning supergroup I’m With Her, Flatland Cavalry, I’m With Her, Mumford & Sons, Turnpike Troubadours and the storied duo of Gillian Welch & David Rawlings – the only nominees in the category who did not release an album in 2025.
The rising talents competing for Emergent Act of the Year are Boy Golden, Crowe Boys, Kashus Culpepper, Pomeroy and Rovîa. Rovîa’s “Heavy Foot” is also up for Song of the Year, alongside Carlile’s “Returning to Myself,” Goodman’s “Snapping Turtle,” I’m With Her’s “Wild and Clear and Blue” and Lucinda Williams’s “The World’s Gone Wrong.” Finally, the coveted Album of the Year category has Goodman’s Planting by the Signs, Pomeroy’s Cruel Joke, Price’s Hard Headed Woman, Tyler Childers’ Snipe Hunter and Kathleen Edwards’ Billionaire.
The winners of the 25th annual Americana Honors & Awards will be unveiled in a ceremony at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 16. Find more information at americanamusic.org/awards.
