Widespread Panic returned to Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a venue they have headlined more than any other band, last night. The show took place in the rain, a day after Panic returned to the stage for the first time since March 2020 for an intimate Tunes for Tots benefit in Denver, and kicked off the group’s three-night run at Red Rocks.

During the band’s second set, the group busted out two songs from their 2001 LP, Don’t Tell The Band. First, Panic launched into “Give” – a song whose lyrics seem to take on new light as the global pandemic begins to end – for the first time since April 25, 2016. The songs revival took place after a sequence that included a run from “Little Lilly” into “Pilgrims,” as well as “Saint Ex,” “All Time Low” and “Jack.” Then, Panic dusted off another Don’t Tell The Band track, “Down” for the first time since Sept. 27, 2014. The tune has been on the shelf since drummer Todd Nance, who originally sang the song, first took a leave of absence from Panic; last night’s revival was seen as a nod to Nance, who died on Aug. 19, 2020.

From there, Panic moved into a fitting “May Your Glass Be Filled” and a “Space Wrangler” closer. A 10-minute “Chilly Water” encore brought the wet night to a close.
Panic will return to Red Rocks tonight
