On Tuesday, March 9, Fruit Bats performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers, promoting their new album The Pet Parade.
Eric D. Johnson, Fruit Bats’ mastermind, opted to perform “The Balcony” from the new record, which came out on March 5. He recently discussed the album’s tracks in a feature in Relix Magazine.
“[The Balcony] is about a dream location, which is the balcony of my grandmother’s apartment,” Johnson told Relix. “We moved around a ton as a kid, but my grandma lived in the same place. She’s no longer with us but my aunt lives there now.
He continued: “It’s a song about patience and it’s probably informed by the quarantine. We almost left it off the record but it’s the most legit up-tempo song we had. So it ended up getting back in, and I’m glad it did.”
