To celebrate the deluxe edition of their breakthrough, self-titled LP – out digitally now, out physically on Oct. 9 – Black Pumas have released “Red Rover” a brand new bonus track.

“It all happened organically,” guitarist-producer Adrian Quesada told Relix of the band’s origins. “A couple studio sessions in, [singer Eric Burton] started playing me his songs. I’d seen some videos of him, and I liked that he was playing guitar and singing. I thought, ‘It’s not like your typical soul or funk frontman.’ He had a vibe of someone like Neil Young. When we got about eight or nine songs into it, we were like, ‘OK, this is cohesive. Maybe we should make this an official thing.’”

In related news, Black Pumas recently teamed up with 4th Tap Brewing to create a signature beer called Stay Gold. Proceeds from beer sales will go toward Austin Justice Coalition, African American Youth Harvest Foundation, and Austin NAACP.
