The Boca Raton, Fla. venue the Funky Biscuit has announced that it will reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic, beginning on Saturday, May 23. The venue stated that it will be adhering to “Florida’s Phase 1 Guidelines” regarding social distancing.

Funky Biscuit founder and CEO Albert Poliak posted a lengthy statement regarding the venue’s decision to reopen. “After much debate, we have decided to reopen our doors (on a limited schedule) Memorial Day weekend starting on Saturday, May 23,” his statement read. “We will, of course, be strictly adhering to Florida’s Phase 1 Guidelines with tables spaced six feet apart and no bar seating. Our staff will be required to wear masks and gloves for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, our capacity will be limited to 25% and as such, will make it very difficult over the next several months to ensure that we can not only stay open, but continue to bring you quality entertainment and a great dining experience.”

Poliak also laid out a set of guidelines that patrons would have to follow:

• You will be required to buy a table, not a seat. While this may seem like an inconvenience to many of you, it will allow everyone to be comfortable and feel safe with the persons sitting next to them. Yes, you may have to make an extra phone call or two to team up with others to purchase a table, but we feel this is the best policy at this time.
As I mentioned earlier, we will be reopening with a limited schedule over the next couple of months, so we ask that you be patient, understanding, and supportive during this time. a given night while maintaining adequate social distancing, but to fairly compensate our musicians who desperately need to be working as soon and as much as possible.
• You will notice increased ticket prices and an increased food & beverage minimum. Again, a necessary change in order for us to remain open and fairly compensate our musicians.
• Our Monday Night Biscuit Jam will remain intact but will now start at 7pm (one show) and be limited to 25% capacity. It will now be a ticketed event for ALL RESERVE SEATS. Each week’s ticket price will vary based on the featured artists and an increased food & beverage minimum will apply. At such time that we are permitted to allow General Admission (Standing), admission for musicians and General Admission will remain free.
• We will be reopening for our Friday Happy Hour (please see website for date). Admission will remain free and there will be no food & beverage minimum.
