After performing an intimate Tuesday-night show in Philadelphia, Phish headed to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Dec. 4 for their fifth show of fall tour, offering dedicated phans a pair of side-project debuts as well as the first version of Syd Barrett’s “Terrapin” since 2004.

The show kicked off with the band’s second-ever “555” opener, and continued with their first “Cars Trucks Buses”since 7/26/17 (show-gap: 88).

A mid-set “Funky Bitch” amplified the energy at the Petersen Events Center, and the first half closed with a pairing of the full-band debut of Mike Gordon’s “Victim” (off 2017’s OGOGO) and fall tour’s first “Run Like an Antelope.”

A completely jammed-through second set began with a funky “Cavern” and made its way through a standout “Runaway Jim” jam before the aforementioned “Ghost of the Forest” debut which, of course, fans recognize as the title track off Ghosts of the Forest from the band Ghosts of the Forest band, featuring guitarist Trey Anastasio and drummer Jon Fishman, as well as a number of Trey Anastasio Band associates.

Later, a “You Enjoy Myself” saw the band make their way through its composed section, choreographed trampoline dance and vocal jam. However, unlike most recent versions of “YEM,” it was not a set-ender. Instead, Phish segued into a rockin’ version of Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times.”

For their encore, the quartet sandwiched a bust-out of Syd Barrett’s solo cut “Terrapin” (show gap: 436) within a “Hold Your Head Up” jam. The show officially ended with a stand-alone “Julius.”
