After a riveting night one, My Morning Jacket played their second of two shows at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday night, offering a lengthy single set, complete with teases of The Beatles.
The band also seemed to pull a number of tunes from their fourth studio LP Z, including opener “Wordless Chorus” and, later cuts like “Lay Low” and “I Beat 4 U.”
As previously mentioned, MMJ were clearly feeling inspired by The Beatles, dotting a mid-set version of “Steam Engine” with elements of “Get Back” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.” They also include pieces of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” for good measure.
To close the set, Jacket played “Phone Went West” with teases of “Hey Jude.”
The band may have left the stage briefly for an applause break, but the five part encore kept the audience’s energy at an all-time high, starting with “Spring (Among the Living)” and ending with their classic “One Big Holiday.”
