In 2003, the members of Guster recorded a version of the Christmas novelty “¿Dónde Está Santa Claus?” for the Nettwerk charity compilation Maybe This Christmas Too?, which benefited Toys for Tots. The song, which Augie Rios first turned into a hit in 1958 at the tender age of 12, was released as a single and has been part of Guster’s holiday catalog ever since.

In advance of this year’s Christmas festivities and the release of their new studio album Look Alive, Guster have released an official, acoustic video for the tune. In a social media post the group says, “We sing in Spanish sometimes! Happy holidays, y’all. Please share this video far and wide, even though we didn’t work very hard on it. Can’t wait for all the fun we’re gonna have in 2019.”

The studio version of the tune was produced and mixed by Peter Katis, who is known for his work with The National, Interpol and Trey Anastasio.  Members of The Zambonis also appear on the track. (The same production team and many of the same players also worked with the Guster Hanukkah offshoot The LeeVees.) Guster will kick off their North American tour on November 16 in Clifton Park, NY.
