Umphrey’s McGee kicked off a two-night run at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, MN, last night and punctuated the evening with a nod to original drummer Mike Mirro on what would have been the late musician’s 40th birthday.

While in the past Umphrey’s has used their Halloween shows to debut some cover mashup songs, the band confirmed this year that they would be forgoing that tradition this year, and last night’s show was full of interconnected UM originals and live staples like “Mantis,” “Plunger” and “Puppet String.”

As JamBase# reports, after the second set finale, guitarist Brendan Bayliss addressed the crowd and wished Mirro, UM’s original drummer and co-founder who passed away in 2014, a happy 40th birthday. Bayliss again nodded to the band’s late friend before their encore, a “Phil’s Farm” that was dedicated to Mirro’s memory.

See the full setlist below as it appears in our Box Scores section, along with video of the second-set opener via the band. Umphrey’s return to the Palace Theatre stage tonight.
