The next installment in moe.s Warts & All archival release series captures a fairly recent performance from January 28, 2007. The gig took place at Lawrence, KS Liberty Hall around the release of The Conch and features a then rare run through Bring It Back Home. The three-disc set also boasts live favorites like Captain America, Rebubula, Head Brent Black, The Ghost Of Ralph’s Mom and a sequence connecting Spine Of A Dog with Dr. Graffenberg.
Like moe.s other Warts & All releases, this show was chosen by the members of moe. themselves and is being offered without edits or overdubs. Each Warts & All release also features unique artwork by moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey.
In September, moe. will issue the first edition of the new series Dr. Stans Picks, which features selections culled by moe. archivist Dr. Stan Lobitz. Like moe.‘s last three studio albums, each of these archival releases will be released on the band’s own label, Fatboy Records. Physical releases will be distributed by KOCH Entertainment.
Moving forward, moe. will no longer manufacture additional copies of the previous Warts & All releases. Both series of archival releases will be limited editions with a release of 25,000 copies, although they will be available digitally indefinitely. The packaging is high quality, display worthy digipaks made of recycled paper with vegetable-based inks.
‘In the last year I have watched two long-standing independent record stores in Buffalo, NY close: Home of the Hits and New World Records – not to mention Tower Records nationwide, the groups longtime manager Jon Topper said in a statement. With fewer stores and larger retail giving less room to product, we have decided to make our archival albums’ physical releases special collector items – which is unique.’
‘moe. does what it can to be environmentally conscious – whether with vegetable-based inks or reducing waste on our tour bus,’ guitarist Al Schnier says. ‘This tour we no longer have bottled water on our rider. We have obtained stainless steel bottles and plan to utilize a water filtration system to reduce our plastic dependency.’
moe. recently confirmed a handful of new shows, including a June 11 co-headlining date with the Disco Biscuits at Glen Allen, VAs Innsbrook Pavilion, a June 21 gig at Alpharetta, GAs Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park with special guest Keller Williams and July 12 & 13 appearances at Portland, MEs Pier Revue (Ryan Montbleau Band and Hot Day at the Zoo will support the group at the latter gig). After a lengthy summer tour, the group will take a break until 2009.
