Last week Bob Weir, original RatDog bassist Rob Wasserman and RatDog drummer Jay Lane performed as a trio for the first time in some time at Dylan Interpreted: Mill Valley Film Festival Concert. The trio covered a diverse mix of Bob Dylan tunes throughout their set with the aid of a diverse mix of collaborations. First, Ramblin Jack Elliot played with the group on Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright and I’ll be Your Baby Tonight. Next up, Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, who discussed his love on the Grateful Dead in the June issue of Relix, played with the trio on Baby Blue, Maggie’s Farm and When I Paint My Masterpiece, the latter of which also featured an appearance by Keller Williams. Finally, the shows entire past returned to the stage for a set closing version of Knockin on Heaven’s Door. RatDog will open its fall tour at Hampton Beach, NHs Casino Ballroom on October 26.
