Last night at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, Umphrey’s McGee invited some area residents to the stage. Stephen Perkins’ Banyan project opened the show and midway through the second set, Umphrey’s brought out the Jane’s Addiction drummer and his Banyan bandmate Willy Waldman. UM’s Kris Myers yielded his kit to Perkins and moved over to percussion, while Waldman contributed trumpet to an extended improv jam that eventually gave way to a cover of Supertramp’s ‘Bloody Well Right.’ Tonight Umphrey’s will close out its west coast run at the San Diego House of Blues.
