Jazz Is Dead has announced the release of its third album, Great Sky River, which was recorded live at the IMAC Theater in Huntington, NY. The line-up features guitarist Jimmy Herring (ARU, Phil & Friends, Allman Brothers Band), bassist Alphonso Johnson (The Other Ones), keyboardist T Lavitz (Dixie Dregs) and drummer Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs). The CD features instrumental interpretations of Grateful Dead classics including China Cat Sunflower, Estimated Prophet, St. Stephen and Terrapin Station. The band will tour this summer, beginning August 8 at Innsbrook Pavilion in Richmond, VA. Great Sky River is due out on July 31.
