On Friday night in Noblesville, IN Phish hit new heights. The band’s performance of “Bouncing Around the Room” was nearly 15 minutes in length, the longest version since the group debuted the song back on 1/20/90. “Bouncing” closed out the first set and its duration even seemingly took lighting director Chris Kuroda by surprise as he turned off the stage lights before the jam that followed.

During the two nights that followed at the venue that is ostensibly called “Ruoff Music Center” but is more commonly known by its original name, Deer Creek, the band offered some additional surprises.

Saturday’s show opened with an energetic take on “AC/DC Bag.” This led into a 36-minute sequence that included “Punch You in the Eye,” “Theme from the Bottom” and “Timber (Jerry the Mule).” A paired “555” and “Reba” came next before solid takes on “Dirt” and “Most Events Aren’t Planned” closed out the frame.

The second set proved to be the keeper, though, with a fully segued 81 minutes of music. Phish opened with “Everything’s Right” which led into a 33-minute exploratory “Tweezer.” The jam out of the song eventually found its way into TV on the Radio’s “Golden Age,” and “My Friend, My Friend” before returning to “Tweezer,” which gave way to Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter” and “Carini.” The encore was “A Life Beyond The Dream” and then a fitting “Tweezer Reprise.”

Sunday’s second set was another memorable affair that found the band pushing the music into new realms. Prior to this, things began in the proper spirit with a first round that included a notable “Evolve” jam that gave way to “Rift,” a 21-minute version of “Bathtub Gin” and a pleasing, set-closing “Stash.”

When the quartet returned for its final round of music at the venue in 2026, Phish launched into a  standalone 38-minute “Simple,” that lit out for the territories but never meandered. The remainder of the set encompassed five songs, beginning with “Pillow Jets,” followed by “Light,” “Cream,” “Also Sprach Zarathustra” and finally, “More.” This was the band’s second-ever version of Prince’s “Cream,” following its debut this past New Years Eve. The encore offered a one-two punch of “Wilson” and “Fluffhead.”

Phish returns to the stage on Tuesday at Enmarket Arena in Savannah.
