On Sunday night, the second run of moe.mentUM tour dates concluded at The Refinery in Charleston, SC. After moe. and Umphrey’s McGee took the stage for their own sets, once again the evening ended with a collaborative encore.

The Carolina run had opened at Outer Banks, NC’s Roanoke Island Festival Park on Thursday, where the two groups closed out the evening with a cover of Men At Work’s “Down Under” followed by Umphrey’s “The Silent Type.” On Friday night at The Amp Ballantyne in Charlotte, they performed moe.’s “Happy Hour Hero” with the group’s Vinnie Amico, Rob Derhak, Chuck Garvey, Jim Loughlin and Nate Wilson joining Umphrey’s Joel Cummings and Andy Farag. This same lineup then covered Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” with Emma Derhak adding vocals.

On Saturday night the two bands made their way to Sand Mountain Amphitheater in Albertville, AL, however the evening was cut short due to lightning. Umphrey’s performed their set, then moe. had to leave the stage early in the midst of their sweeping, improv-heavy “Meat.”

The joint encore sequence returned at The Refinery. The groups joined forces on moe.’s “Moth,” with UM drummer Scotty Zwang and bassist Ryan Stasik sitting it out, before the two returned and played Johnny Blue Skies’ “Make America Fuk Again” with Loughlin, Wilson and Al Schnier.

Both moe. and Umphrey’s have dates over the coming weeks before the moe.mentUM Tour resumes on August 12.
