David Byrne has released “¿Cuál Es La Razón?” The tune is a new take on his track “What Is The Reason For It?” from his latest album, Who Is The Sky?, which finds Grammy-award winning Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade taking on Hayley Williams’ parts from the original recording. Produced by Mexican Institute Of Sound, the Latin-infused version of the song is said to be inspired by Byrne’s experiences in Mexico City and “the enduring mysteries of love.”

The tune arrives in conjunction with Byrne’s announcement that he will perform a run of shows in Mexico this summer. The newly confirmed dates include stops at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City (9/4), the Telmex Auditorium in Guadalajara, MX (9/8) and the Escenario GNP in Monterrey, MX (9/10). Byrne and his band will then return to the United States for appearances at Saratoga Springs, NY’s Saratoga Performing Arts Center (9/17) and Queens, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium (9/19).

At the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival this past weekend, Byrne also made headlines by inviting out his frequent collaborator St. Vincent for a version of Talking Heads’ “Air” during his set on the Gentilly Stage. He also sat in with St. Vincent on the same stage immediately before his show for a take on Talking Heads’ “Wild Wild Life,” a staple on their joint 2013 outing that he has not performed live since that run came to a close. Of note, Talking Heads never played the single live since they did not tour on 1986’s True Stories and Byrne has not run through the track with any of his other subsequent solo acts during the past 40 years.

Byrne will perform at St. Louis, MO’s Stifel Theatre this evening.
