Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers showed up at Los Angeles’ Troubadour for a two-night stand at the acclaimed live music location. Rather than relying on others to handle concert retellings, the namesake took to social media to break down the gigs’ happenings and thank those who showed up and made performances on July 31 and Aug. 1 all the more special with added accompaniment.

Hornsby began his initial show recollections on Instagram, writing, “Our opening night at the storied Troubadour went well, with a rowdy, vocal crowd and the intense feeling of playing in a small space with a standing, dancing audience. The feeling is always festive, and enthusiasm is always inspiring for any band that plays in this situation.”

After describing the crowd’s response to “Resting Place,” “No Limits,” and “Great Divide,” Hornsby mentioned his son’s presence at the concert, “‘Space Is The Place’ featured my son Russell reprising his rap from the original record (when he was 11 years old, now 32!), and kept the spirit climbing, all the way to the end when, hoping to send the crowd out into the night on a valedictory cloud, I chose our song (recorded by Willie Nelson) ‘Nobody There But Me,’ a benediction to close the night.”

Hornsby continued his self-penned commentary following an August 1 performance, which featured guest slots from Grammy-award-winning solo recording artist Shawn Colvin and brass contributor Paul Simon, Bon Iver, and Hornsby collaborator via BrhyM, CJ Camerieri. For Colvin’s role, she assisted on “Mandolin Rain” and “Lost Soul” before Camerieri’s arrival on “Where’s The Bat” and Branford Marsalis’ original “Talk of the Town.”
