Greensky Bluegrass are partway through a run through their home state of Michigan, with longtime friend Holly Bowling serving as the sixth member of the ensemble during the celebratory trek. On December 28 the ensemble performed at the Temple Theatre in Saginaw, MI.
May Erlewine opened on December 28 and, during Greensky’s second set, the folk/roots singer emerged for the band’s original “Against the Days.” She was then joined by her keyboardist Joe Hettinga and the pair helped Greensky through their debut take on Mariah Carey’s hit “Always Be My Baby.” Soon after, Joe Hettinga remained onstage as Greensky continued on with their well-loved version of Bruce Hornsby’s “King of the Hill.” Then, the following night, mandolin player Brian Oberlin took the stage with Greensky Bluegrass during their second set for “Give a Shit.”
Greensky will close the year at Kalamazoo, MI’s Kalamazoo State Theatre tonight and tomorrow.
