U2 have returned with a brand-new single titled “Atomic City,” coinciding with the launch of their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere shows in Las Vegas. The song was released with an accompanying music video set in Sin City and emboldened by the desert gem’s endless lights.

The band described the track as a tribute to an eclectic mix of influences, including Blondie, Giorgio Moroder, the Clash, 1970s post-punk, ’70s punk, and the vibrant city of Las Vegas, which was once fondly known as the “Atomic City” during the 1940s and ’50s. The high-octane feel on the song serves as the perfect precursor to the opening of Las Vegas’ newest attraction, The Sphere, which is set to welcome 17,500 fans to watch U2 christen the venue tonight.

Notably, “Atomic City” marks U2’s first original release since their contribution to the Sing 2 soundtrack with “Your Song Saved My Life” in 2021. Earlier this year, they treated fans to “Songs of Surrender, a remarkable 40-track compilation featuring reimagined versions of songs from their extensive discography.
