The Allman Brothers Band tribute act known as Trouble No More welcomed a special guest during their show on the indoor stage at Salvage Station in Asheville, N.C. The performance took place last night, Thursday, Aug. 10, and included Jason Isbell, who is currently on tour in support of his latest drop, 2023’s Weathervanes

The guest’s arrival came after the billed players–Lamar Williams Jr., Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Daniel Donato, Dylan Niederauer, Peter Levin and Nikki Glaspie–delivered a supersized set of Allman Brothers covers, such as fan favorites “Les Brers In A Minor,” “Blue Sky,” “Jessica” and others. Following most of the second set content, Isbell turned up and assisted with a pair of tunes.

Levin provided the formal introduction, listing Isbell as a friend of the band and “one of the finest guitar players and one of the finest songwriters you will hear in your life.” They followed by unleashing a rendition of “One Way Out” off the classic Eat A Peach LP. The group then closed their collaborative stage time with “The Whipping Post,” leaving room for the guest to flex his prowess.

Isbell was in the region for his gig with the 400 Units, slatted for this evening, August 11, at Rabbit Rabbit. Trouble No More keyboardist Levin plays in Isbell’s wife, Amanda Shires’ band. Levin and Shires also play together in The Highwomen. Notably, in July 2022, the husband and wife duo joined Trouble No More during their gig in Chicago, assisting on “The Whipping Post” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.”
