Neil Young will perform at the famed Los Angeles club, The Roxy Theatre, on September 20. The show marks the venue’s 50th anniversary. Notably, Young played at the venue’s inaugural opening in 1973, making his upcoming return all the more meaningful.

The venue’s website offered background on the impending event: “This September, the legendary club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with special performances from artists who shaped the venue into what it is today as well as current bands who will continue to shape the future of The Roxy and music itself.”

As previously mentioned, the West Hollywood nightclub started with music from Young, which was initially billed as Crazy Horse. In the months that followed its opening, the space held shows featuring the Genesis lineup with Peter Gabriel. Notably, during the ‘80s, the spot was frequented by folks such as John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, and other prominent folks associated with the music industry.

Young also released an LP, Roxy: Tonight’s The Night Live, featuring his backing band, the Santa Monica Flyers, and recorded on Sept. 20, 21, and 22, 1973. The album features renditions of songs, such as “Tonight’s The Night,” “Walk On,” and many others.

While Young is currently the only name on the artist lineup, more musician announcements are expected to follow. For more information, visit theroxyturns50.com
