Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith has shared some additional information about a new super-group-style project that appears to be in the works. Recently, a photo of Goldsmith with his brother and Dawes drummer Griffin, Terrapin Family Band guitarist Ross James, Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno, Circles Around the Sun keyboardist Adam MacDougall and Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda started making waves on the internet and social media. On his Substack, Taylor has shared a little more information on the project, which will also includes Dead & Company bassist Otiel Burbridge.

As he explains, “We’ve been getting a lot of questions about this band pictured above since it was briefly discussed in our last Little Bit Of Everything post. From left to right, the band consists of Ross James, me, Adam MacDougall, Eric Krasno, Griff, and Rick Mitarotonda. The band also includes Otiel Burbridge, but he wasn’t there the day we took this picture. This post isn’t gonna be too long because I still can’t tell you too much. I can’t tell you the band name. I can’t tell you about our plan to play some shows. But I can tell you that both of those things exist. I’ve received permission from my bandmates to share a demo of a tune that we cut for the record. This is just me and an acoustic guitar playing a song a little over 4 minutes. Whereas the studio version with the full band clocks in at a little over 8 😳.  If you’re the kind of Dawes fan that has enjoyed following us into our Misadventures of Doomscroller moment, I think you’re going to really enjoy what we’re cooking up.”

The paid subscribers of Taylor’s Substack can listen to the demo version of “Kicking Over The Traces” now. The members of the new project all have long, involved histories and have collaborated in different ways in recent years. Dawes will perform next at the Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre in Salt Lake City, UT, with Kaleo.
