Today, Levitate, the iconic surf shop and community hub, located in Marshfield, Mass., announced Backyard Bar & Community Space for the summer and fall season will kick off on May 18. The opening–coinciding with Levitate’s 20th anniversary–has blossomed into a cherished creative haven for locals and visitors alike and has an exciting lineup of eclectic live performances, featuring renowned acts such as Ripe, Matisyahu, Molly Tuttle, and more.
The calendar for Summer 2023 promises a vibrant array of events and activities. In addition to the captivating live music performances, visitors can enjoy daily kid’s art camps, film premieres, philanthropic fundraisers, and a delectable selection of locally sourced food and drink. Levitate’s commitment to fostering creativity and a connection with nature has struck a chord within the community. Other perfomers set to perform in 2023 include the North Mississippi Allstars, Allah-las, Club D’Elf, Midnight North, Keller Williams and more.
Owner Dan Hassett expressed his excitement in a press release, stating, “The Levitate Backyard has become more than just a music venue; it has evolved into a thriving community space. We love seeing people come together and bond over their shared creative passions, whether it’s music, art, surfing, food, or fishing.”
In a new development for 2023, the Backyard will extend its hours and open for lunch daily from noon to 10 p.m. The menu has also undergone further enhancements, focusing on locally sourced ingredients and supporting local farmers and fishermen. Levitate aims to promote sustainable practices and connect people with the exceptional culinary offerings available in New England.
Notably, Each morning, the Levitate Backyard will host the acclaimed Creative Camp, where children are encouraged to explore the power of creativity and the outdoors. Through immersive experiences in nature, conservation education, and artistic expression, Creative Camp hopes to inspire young campers to recognize their creative potential and develop a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Along with the Backyard lineup, Levitate also shared its most significant event yet—the Levitate Backyard Ball will commence on July 2. The exclusive occasion will benefit the Levitate Foundation, and celebrate the achievements of the non-profit’s inaugural season and inviting attendees to support and engage with its mission.
The Levitate Backyard Ball will feature special performances by Ripe and surprise guests, all in the spirit of Levitate’s unwavering dedication to creating unforgettable experiences. With proceeds from the evening dedicated to the Levitate Foundation, and ongoing contributions of one percent of all sales, Levitate remains committed to fostering access to creativity and the outdoors within the community.
